25. Soft Gradient Nails

So hey everyone, it’s been a while since we updated but here I am! Just wanted to say

THANKX FOR 1000+ VIEWS ON OUR HUMBLE BLOG!!!

As an appreciation gift for the views, I've decided to do a

Soft (baby coloured) Gradient Nail Tutorial!

Level of Difficulty: Medium.

Number of Steps: 9 (optional 10)

They look like this (even though it might not be very visible with the bad lighting DX):

Experiment with your own colours too and enjoy :D

Now Proceed:

Let’s Start:

Materials:
-          plastic bag* (since I couldn't find a plate to put the nail polish on)
-          Base Coat: Nail Life, Hide Ridges, ridge filler
-          Light pink nail polish: Wet n Wild, Wild Shine, Tickled Pink
-          Clear sparkly nail polish: Pure Ice, Oh baby
-          White Nail polishL'Oreal, French tip manicure, French Tip White 130
-          Clear Blue Sparkles nail polish: Pure Ice, Strapless
-          Baby Blue Nail Polish: NYC Long Wearing, Cashmere Creme
-     Top Coat: Sally Hansen, No Chip, Acrylic Top Coat
-          (optional) black nail polish: Kiss Nail art Paint: Black
-          Make up Sponge
*I really like the plastic bag option because you can wash the nail polish off and keep reusing the bag for nail polish.

Brief Explanation:
à In bold is the general materials, non bolded are the ones I used
à Underline is the brand I used
à Italic is the name of the colour I used

Steps:
1. Start with the base coat

2. After it dries, put on a white nail polish. I used the L’Oreal French tip Manucure … which I soon realized was not really appropriate for filling the whole nail >__>
It's Messy ...

3. Using the dark blue sparkle nail polish, place a dab on the plastic bag or your mixing plate (?). Using the make up sponge, dip the flat part into the polish and dab ¼ to ½ of the nail.

4. Next follow step 3 again but this time use the lighter blue polish and fill the rest of the nail leaving only a manicure length of nail uncovered.
5. Place the pink nail polish onto the mixing plate and dip the sponge into the polish.
Use the thin tip of the make up sponge for precision.
Keep that in mind and emphasize on the edge of the nail then work your way down to fill the rest. It     should look like the pink fades first and then makes it’s way to the edge with more colour.

The pink is a little hard to see, Sorry!!
6. Once it dries, use the clear sparkle nail polish and paint over the whole nail. This makes it have a shiny effect.

7. Complete the rest of your nails by repeating step 3 – 6 (You are now almost done!)
It's done, but i didn't clean it yet xD
8. Apply a neat top coat over all the nails (which i do not have a picture of DX

9. This nail design is a little messy, so step 8 is remove all the excess nail polish.

Now You’re Done! :D (Step 10 is optional)

10. Use the black nail polish. Starting at the bottom (a little right off the center) make one dot. A fair dot; then make four more all smaller than the previous one. Do the same on the top part of the nail except it starts at the left (a little off the center) top of the nail. (It might be a little complicated in explanation but the picture should help explain it better)

ARGHHH!!! I CAN'T ROTATE IT!! Sorry -.-"

So the nail tutorial is now officially done, tell me what you think. I hope you enjoyed it and you should try it on your own :D Experiment with different colours and if you happen to try this out, upload the photo of your own in the comment box below or send us a picture at:

oldtoboldfashion@gmail.com

(Final Image On the Right Though the Flash was on and I didn't necessarily like that ... however the image produced really showed off the colours so I put it on here anyways :3)

Happy December 1st Everyone! :D

P.S. Sorry I don't have any pictures of the bag use .. I'm running out of internet (today is the 9th day after the bill and I've used half of my internet already xD) therefore, since blogger needs me to upload the photos, it drains my internet ... in turn, I limited my picture posts to only 10 or so.

Sorry for any inconvenience!

So, as you all should know from Tiffany's post, we are going on a cruise!!! I'm so psyched!!! :D

Well anyways, since Tiffany got those lovely Abbey Dawn heels, i couldn't resist to buy my own XD

About a week ago, she kept on telling me how she got these really nice heels, so I went to aldo to get myself a nice pair of heels so that i wouldn't be so short compared to her XD

Yea so I settled down with these super sweet champagne coloured stilettos that look so super cutee!!! I AM IN LOVE WITH THEM!!!!!! <3

these are soooo awesome!!!! :)

On top of that i got these for a really good price!

The original price of these shoes were $100.00 but these were in the sale section of aldo so it was half off.
(Yes ofc i would go into the sale section, I'm asian XD)

$50.00 were already an awesome price for this but guess what?

ON TOP OF THAT WAS AN ADDITIONAL 30% OFF!!!!

It was an awesome deal!!! I'm so happy!!!

Actually i saved another 10 % with my SPC card :D
( I finally found a use for the card!! :D)

The total came out to UNDER $40.00 !!!! O u O YAY my asian ness is kicking in again XD

so yea that's about it, I was really happy with these, and i actually still am XD

23: Manic Panic Raven

Using my phone to post for the first time :) anyways today I dyed all my hair black with manic panic raven... I'll update on how it is later since its just been few hours since I washed it out, so I can't say anything bout it's staying power and stuff. But, the dye is really thick or well thicker than the colours. I usually use half a jar for full head of hair but I used the full jar of raven

22. Just Fab Abbey Dawn Shoes!!

I got my NEW SHOEESSSS!!!! I needed new shoes for the cruise and what i was looking for was something with spikes since i like spikes o uo
I LOVE these Sam Edelman heels!!!!
sadly the ones i fell IN LOVE with ^ .... cost like $200 dollars TT.TT (actually $90 since i saw a pair on sale the other day at vaughnmills! end of season sales wooooooo!) either way my mom would be like, NO too expensive... but i found some abbey dawn shoes that i LOVE as well!!!

Abbey Dawn WTF (thats the shoe's name)
GAHHH so pink... i got the black pair!

I got them from the site Just Fab ( < click it now!!!) along with another pair since it was 2 for $39.95!!!! sadly i live in canada so +$9 shipping T.T

how this site works is you join, then you choose the shoes u want and become a VIP... then every month you get more shoes options and you either BUY A PAIR, SKIP, or THEY CHARGE YOUR CARD 39.95 AND YOU GET A CREDIT (worth a pair of shoes)

however you get shoes that usually cost like $65+ (at least mine cost like that much) for $40 and if you buy during a sale you can get 2 for $40

Why am i telling you this? well

  1. its a great deal!!! the sale is still on!
  2. honestly if you press that link and buy a pair or two shoes i get some points on your first purchase ;)
  3. You happy, Me happy WE ALL WIN xP

******OHHHH BUT IF YOUR LIKE ME AND ONLY WANT TO BUY ONCE! CALL TO CANCEL WHEN YOUR SHOES ARE HERE!!!! cuz if you forget to skip during the 1-4 or EVERY month, your card WILL BE CHARGED $40!!!!! **** (haha i know im cheap > _>)

Anyways i love this site! i got TWO pairs of shoes for under $50! I personally am a fan of Avril Lavigne so seeing Abbey Dawn shoes on the sight was AMAZING!!! i ordered:
Abbey Dawn: WTF and Rockstar shoe
Ordered them July 29th and it got here yesterday... so August 7th so it came in a little over a week! which is great since it comes from the states, and had to cross the boarder and everything to get to my door!

came in a box like this

boxes in the box! box-ception.... the abbey dawn shoebox
is so pretty!!!
 Packaged really nicely!

The shoes are great! Rockstar shoe comes with extra heel things... like the plastic at the tip of the heel...
Also the shoes are pretty comfy, but i have yet to wear them for a long period of time.

look at the bottom! O: so niceee
Im a size 8.5 but these came only in full sizes so i ordered them in size 9 since thats what it says on the site. I was not to worried because i've read reviews saying 9 is a perfect fit for 8.5 and you can always add insoles to make the shoe fit better. My mom however was REALLY WORRIED xP When they got here THEY FIT PERFECTLY!!!!

WAHHHH SO HAPPY WITH MY SHOES!!!!!!

- Tiffany > u< (srry if i sound like someone who just wants you to buy shoes for personal gain... i just really wanted to tell you about how happy i am... lol and brag a little cuz caitlyn reads these xP come on why wouldn't you want me to tell you about my good buys? its your choice if you buy it or not o uo)

PS T.T to continue my story about the sam edelman shoes.... gahhh! I ordered these two, then a week later i go to the mall to find them ON SALE for $87!!!!! (plus tax gahhh canada -___- 13%) wowwwwwwwww thats how "lucky" i am.... i still want them so bad

PSS or PPS or iunno.... sorry if your one of those people that reads these right after i post and notice WOW this girl has bad grammar, spelling and mistakes all over -____-.... haha i post these before Caitlyn checks them since i'm too impatient to tell you guys stuff xP plus i'm to lazy to read them over....

21. Color Oops Review-ish / hair update

Sooooo yesterday i got rid of my red hair, which i miss deeply now T^T BUT i wanna tell you about my experience with a colour remover, since i was scared of these before >_> I used color oops extra conditioning and it just cost me like 6 bucks! (it was on sale at my local rexall... i think regular is like $12) Before i used this, i did my research and found out this: doesn't use bleach & smells like eggs (really bad rotten eggs) BUT THATS ALL! Nothing about using on bright red hair.... or asian hair.... i found a few videos but it didnt provide a whole lot of info

Anyways, i'm not an expert... blah blah... and (insert those disclaimer things about me not being responsible for u using this and i wasn't paid to do this....) lol this is just my experience with it

It came with two bottles of... err the stuff.... pair of gloves, shower cap, nozzle, and instructions

ABOUT MY HAIR (like how it was before i used this product)

  • asian hair
  • dyed with l'oreal hicolour red hot (twice)
  • dyed with manic panic rock n roll red when l'oreal faded...
  • faded manic panic so has orange-y red pink hair
meeeeee.... T^T i miss that hair
Soooo the ppl online said it smelt like rotten eggs and is really nasty... but IMO it wasn't that bad

i admit, it does smell like rotten eggs but not too strong... BUT i do always have a stuffy nose so... it might be one of those odd perks of being someone with allergies ^o^ *sighhhhh*...allergies -___-

What i do have to say is that i hate how liquidly it is... and being the messy person i am... it drip EVERYWHERE "> _> my white tabletop was unharmed but i had a black carpet so it left white dots... and also since the liquid is clear, you can't spot the drips....

KEEP YOUR BLACK (or coloured) CARPETS AWAY!!!

the wait was fast... i put on the shower cap, cleaned up, then read manga... time flew so fast, even when i checked every 5 mins... to take pictures for you guys ;)

-5 mins- .... cleaning up my mess

-10 mins-  finished cleaning!!

-15 mins- U SEE THAT COLOUR CHANGE :O

-20 mins- i was worried since there was red left....
After i showered everything was good! My hair was left this orangy-brown...

Results!

when still wet...
wahhhh i dont like this colour thou
In the end it got all the red... but since i have black hair as my natural colour it obviously wont return my hair to its original colour. I left this orange-brown coloured hair (which i thought was normal since hair naturally has like red pigments or something like that, so its expected for my asian hair to be brassy)

Color Oops

  • Cost: 5/5 .... i know i got it on sale but even at regular it just cost as much as box dye
  • Smell: 3/5 ... hair dye smells bad too, its not  a smell i couldn't stand, but it does smell bad
  • Application 3/5... too liquidly... but i still got a pretty even application on my hair
  • Product 4/5 ... got rid of the red but hard to judge if it got ALL of it since i was left with brassy hair did not damage my hair!!!
  • Name 5/5 ... Oops is a funny word...
i would buy this again but i would try a different one first since liquidly product = mess = me getting my mom mad :P it does its job thou and i'm dying over it anyways

-Tiffany ~_~ i will be dying my hair tomorrow....

20. Finally Done School

Grade 11 English Credit Status: COMPLETE

Yea so if you are a returning visitor of this blog you may know i have been suffering through english... since i chose to do the acceleration course... (yea my choice so i know i shouldn't be complaining) Well I'M DONEEE!!!! I probably should have wrote this before my last post (cheetah print nails tutorial) but if you have seen that before this, you may know i finished with an 81! As an asian i usually would be like, gahhhh its a 81 D: arghhhh... but since i hate english class because of my lack of interest in reading (other than manga and sub-titles) i was REALLY happy with my mark xD

Considering this blog has a lack of blogging and more tutorials than any other type of post... i want to blog more... i downloaded the blogger app to do so... (and i just realized i should have blogged this when i was at the mall)

Anyways i wanna tell you all about my amazing buy!

So i have to say that one of my all time favourite stores is Winners! Why? Well its like a treasure hunt every time i'm in there. Who doesn't like finding things for less! And the feeling you get when you get a good buy!!! > u<

Basically short story even shorter... i got a pair of wedges for $16!

The red sticker of awesomeness~~~~
They are from the brand Anne Marino... never heard of it... but they look so summery! It might be my lack of summer vacation that made me extra attracted to these wedges but i love the yellow and green stripes!

These are 4 1/2 inches and I don't wear heels much... if at all... usually just on special occasions... cuz im 5'6 and asian so i always feel too tall T^T especially since on top of my height (or below my height) my friends or close friends are all short. Well almost all of them are like 3 inches shorter than me... *cough* *cough* Caitlyn *cought* 4 inches *cough* shorter *cough* hmmm i might be catching a cold :P (this doesn't work that well in text...)

Now that i am more self confident why should i care if i tower above people? If anything its just my fear of standing out... which i already do since i have a head full of red hair! So yea im going to wear these wedges and feel happy im tall :D These plenty of people out there in the world who are taller than me even when im in heels! And lots of people who complain about being short.

So EXCEPT YOUR HEIGHT! its your PERSONALITY that MATTERS ^ o^

-Tiffany > u<  (how did this post stray from the title to talking about self confidence ~_~... oh well... )

19. Sparkly Cheetah Nails

YEAHHHH! I HAVE FINISHED SUMMER SCHOOL! Now i won't need to take english during the school year! and i'm super duper happy because i go to a non-semester school so i would have needed to take it ALL year! I passed with an 81 which is a one percent improvement from last year xP

Anyways since it was the last day, my summer school friend asked me to paint her nails, so i did... i personally don't like animal print all that much so i thought i would never do a tutorial like this, but i am because i thought about you guys. When she asked i thought, HEY I CAN MAKE A TUTORIAL! so yea here it goes....

*sorry about the lighting in the up coming photos... i had to paint her nails in the dark while the rest of the class watched a movie*

Polish and Tools

  • Base coat - China Glaze strong adhesion base coat
  • Top coat - Revlon quick dry top coat
  • Gold nail polish- Revlon gold coin
  • Bronze or Glittery Brown Nail Polish- China Glaze in awe of amber
  • Black Nail Polish- Eleanor
  • Dotting tool

Step 1: Paint your nails with base coat then gold nail polish

painting nails on a finished essay! its like a symbol that were done with
the english course... -___- wow i'm talking about symbolism...

Step 2: Using a dotting tool (or toothpick) dot random splotches of bronze on your nail. Aim for around 10 small splotches per nail.

spots should be different sizes and
shapes like on a real cheetah

kinda looks like a giraffe

Step 3: Paint around the splotches with black polish and a small dotting tool. Make messy c's, u's, upside down u's and backward c's as well as around the bronze.

messy is key to making the spots realistic, but don't go overboard!

Step 4: If there is an awkward empty space fill it with a blob of black, as long as its not a perfect circle of black it works out ;)

you see that black spot around the top left? Bet you didn't notice right
away since it blends in >:D

Step 5: Add a top coat to make it long lasting and your done O uO

gahhhh bad lighting

this is so nice with darker skin tones :O i'm jealous
Just one more week of volunteering then i have the summer to myself!.... sighhhh.... one WHOLE week...

-Tiffany O uO  i got an 81%~~~~~ yessss~~~
